I'm Interviewing a man by the name of John Hess(from filmmakeriq.com) tonight on my YouTube channel... I'm using OBS to do it. This is my first time live streaming with OBS on Linux. I hope it all goes well.
It starts at 9 CST. I'd love to see you guys there. Please let me know if there is anything that I should know before I start. :-)

  1. Just start the preview stream a half hour in advance and you should be good to go. Usually if there are any instabilities in the stream, they show within a half hour.

  2. Terry Leigh Britton I did an upload test a little while ago. This is what I got! :-(   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QC95ykyXZK4

  3. Terry Leigh Britton Just found out that my CPU is WAY to old. I'll have to use the Google Hangouts thing. :-( I really was wanting to use OBS!

  4. Micah Pendleton Yes, OBS does want some horsepower in that CPU. Definitely for 1080p, of course, but is even demanding for 720p. Still, if you can do an HOA (which is 720p) you should be able to pull of a 720p stream to YouTube Live using OBS. But my quad-core Phenom II X4 830 processor on this HP just barely holds up - I have to use this computer ONLY for encoding, and cannot run any other software. (That is, only the webcam(s) and mic(s) with OBS and nothing else running.) I have a capture card to bring in content from other programs running (Using Startech PEXHDCAP - inexpensive but works great!) Keep me posted as you experiment!

  5. Terry Leigh Britton Ya. I had to use Google's tool. Even with that I had major issues, choppy video and audio.

  6. Micah Pendleton Since this is an interview, why not just go for a 480p presentation? I'll bet that will stream just fine from OBS.

  7. Terry Leigh Britton I'm not sure that would have worked. My laptop became very slow. Thanks though. I'm just going to have to start saving for a more powerful laptop. I appreciate all your help.
