I managed to get one HDMI camera into my HOST pc using an AverMedia video capture card. If I want to pull in another HDMI video source, I'll have to do it via one of the USB 3 ports as the machine has only 1 expansion slot. I still want to stick with the machine for its i7 8 core processor, 32 GB RAM and strong video card. Has anyone in the community any experience bringing an HDMI video source into OBS via a USB capture device?
Any/all comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Game capture cards add quite a bit of delay - see Kai Roer's posts on this.
ReplyDeleteI have the BMD Intensity USB 3 and use it with a Mac - no issues provided you have the right drivers. But you might want to look at the ATEM TVS as a hardware switcher too.
As for BDM Intensity I have the Pro (Internal card) that seems to work fine with OBS. I have not yet used it live, only for testing, though. Also, it requires a desktop/workstation type computer, not a laptop, which may be an issue for you?
ReplyDeleteAn option could be to build a rack-based computer, that you could fit inside a flight box, perhaps?
Stephen Pritchard I'd love to be able to afford the ATEM TV as an option. Limited budget is going to decent wireless microphones (Shure), the AverMedia Extreme Capture U3, a C920, and a couple of decent tripods with proper tilt, pan, swivel action.
