Thanks for approving my membership!

Thanks for approving my membership! I'm new to broadcasting (mainly twitch but getting into YouTube) and was wondering what folks used for mixing audio. I'd like to pipe my mic (easy), game audio and music, and voice chat to their own channels on the mixer. Is that possible with a single soundcard?

  1. That's sort of what I did here but I was only picking up a Hangout Video Call and not gaming:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Og3V9zX9BM&index=6&list=PL3DuPQoR_3AFbv1tSjQzertzggjOcNI9M
You can use the OBS Video Source plugin to play files from your PC and send the sound output to the headphones which then can input into the mixer.  I can monitor the mixer (the input to the livestream) in one ear and monitor my desktop which has the voice chat in the other ear.
I'm looking for a gaming PC to purchase since my computer is having difficulty handling this.

  4. To hear audio from the Video Source plugin:  On OBS you go to the video > properties > "video source settings"  and tick "Output audio to device" and select "DirectX audio output" or "wave out audio output" and then select Headphones which could input to a mixer.  You can listen to your desktop on a different set of headphones plugged into the speakers.

  5. Thank you all for the support! I've started messing with a few things, and it looks like I'm on my way! I'll make sure to post an update with what I did to get it all working.

  6. Ph1Lt0r TwitchTV OBS doesn't have a virtual camera, xsplit does.  So if you want people in the video chat to see the YouTube Live broadcast you can use this to capture the live OBS window from your desktop:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/screencapturer/
It will show up as a camera source in Hangouts and I assume Skype.

  8. Terry Leigh Britton Sure, the settings are in the Start menu in the All Programs > Screeen Capturer Recorder.  There you can do a custom size capture by resizing the window over the area you want to capture.
