Terry Leigh Britton watched your youtube on obs and stress on cpu.

Terry Leigh Britton watched your youtube on obs and stress on cpu. very good. I am trying to stream into facebok live and periscope simultaneously. Been successful with this but pushing the envelope when I do two people from various locations using desktop (my guest and me). I am looking for ways to reduce the load on computer so reducing screen size, resolution, fps very helpful. Any other thoughts are appreciated. Also, if anybody here has time and would like to test the two-party stream into facebook and periscope, please get with me. I am very close to success but not quite there yet. Thanks.

  1. I successfully streamed our podcast to FB live, YouTube, and Periscope this past week. We had three people in differing locations, via Google Hangouts. It took me getting a new computer to get it done. The previous week I got an encoder overload message as we were doing it. Pic was real choppy and then I ran into some audio problems.

I believe there were a couple of factors that contributed to the problems. 1) I was using the internal camera in my all-in-one for the hangout. I have an external camera that I use for the vid feed in OBS, but this internal camera was on so as the people in the Hangout could see me as well. I'm pretty sure this ate up a lot of resources on my machine.

    2) I just don't think my machine could keep up. A lot of programs have started running slow in the past year, particularly Photoshop and Audacity. Age, data accumulation, and various factors contributed to this. I didn't have a balling set-up in the first place either. I believe it was an early generation i5 2.7 processor. I didn't have a lot of loot to upgrade system at the moment, but I took a chance on a refurbished machine from New Egg. I purchased an HP X420 with Xeon E5-1620 processor. This upped my processor speed to 3.6 GHz and double my ram to 16 gb.

Right now, it's getting the job done much better!

  2. Cat Chronicles i bought a new computer, stopped using my laptop, bought a desktop, with much more computing power, better video card, more RAN and it has made significant difference. I am not having any problems with cpu whereas before, every event would hover around 100 percent. glad you also moved up and have less issues.
