Craig Long I got it working on the multi platform edition. My initial attempt to unzip resulted in the files being placed in the wrong directory. Once I corrected that, it worked like a champ. However it appears to work kind like a chromecast. You put in the url and it plays directly from the internet bypassing your local browser. That was problematic when I used you tube as a source URL. The ad popups and autoplay by you tube could not be contolled. I would have prefered to use window source and point to the local browser window. Then I'd be able to dismiss the popup ads and stop you tube from automatically playing another video upon completion of the first.
ReplyDeleteI am sure it will have utility but for You Tube I think not.
John Brown I had so many plugins going I had them in the wrong folders also. The tutorial was confusing also.
ReplyDeleteJohn Brown On the standard version of OBS I installed this plugin which allows me to play a video file from my computer:

Craig Long The standard version of OBS has a plug-in management tool that simplifies the installation and management of plug-ins. On the new MP Win version, one must manually install the plug in files to the plugin directory. It is also still unrefined in many aspects. I was bemused to continue hearing the You Tube video still playing after I'd changed scenes and deleted the scene including the Browser source. OBS MP crashed and I had to use task manager to guiet the machine. Still I'm looking forward with great anticipation to the continued growth of the new MP editions.
ReplyDeleteJohn Brown It seems like the multiplatform version doesn't offer anything that you can't get on the standard version.
ReplyDeleteCraig Long you are absolutely right. I've worked with the original Windows OBS for quite some time. I'm just pleased to see it growing into the Mac and Linux arenas and am looking forward to new features once the MP version catches up (and passes) the original OBS. I'm particularly looking forward to a feature which would allow "preview" of scenes before selection. I understand that is on the roadmap for the MP version. The absence of that feature is the only reason I bought Wirecast. Otherwise I'd be exclusively using OBS.
