Small "Clean HDMI" Camcorder
I can see from the copy that the "I know what they want" marketing people are clueless as to who the market is for this camera. I think it's me! I'd love to play with this. One of the best design features is that the connectors aren't hidden behind the view screen. Is Santa Claus listening? :-)

I did review that. Interesting camera. Wide field of view may or may not be to your liking! Also a Nikon D3300 is $500 with lens on Amazon. You could maybe get a camcorder for less but the image won't be as good.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your review Stephen, thanks for pointing it out to me. ( http://www.audiovideopro.net/video-review-canon-legria-mini-x/ ) Agreed that the distortion of wide angle mode is not appealing. I see a camera that costs 4 times what a C920 costs, but is not 4 times (or 3 times) the camera. The packaging, though, would suit me well. Nice industrial design focused on a narrow customer group. Too bad. Maybe I'll try one out when used ones become available. I am encouraged to see "Clean HDMI" catching on.
It's mainly focused on musicians with a nod to the selfie/blogger crowd. But there aren't too many options specific to live streaming below $1k. Something that does work well - and prices have fallen - is a used Panasonic AF100. All the connections you need and more...
ReplyDeleteFor me, the AF100 is a bit of a hulk. I have noticed that some of the "action" cams are available with Clean HDMI Out. I have also noticed the issue of compression sometimes comes up. Compression is a hard spec to get information about. Is it a factor that I would need to consider?
ReplyDeleteWouldn't live streaming be easier with any camera that can record video, a capture card, and a pc?
ReplyDeleteShould be doable easily under 1,000
Yup. As long as camcorder has 'clean' HDMI out - most do, though not all...
